Book Cover Reveal + 5 Things to Know About My Funny Valentine

With less than 6 weeks until launch, don’t you think it’s time to see what My Funny Valentine looks like? I think so, too, which is why it’s time for the much-anticipated cover reveal!

I am so excited to share this novel with you that I can hardly wait any longer. That’s why I’ve included 5 things you should know —including exclusive behind-the-scenes info—about My Funny Valentine before it launches.

1). Where I Got the Inspiration

In December 2019, I started working on a Hallmark-style Christmas story as a joke. I mostly wanted to see how cheesy and cliche I could make it. But, what started out as a joke turned into something I really enjoyed. It was much different from writing horror, but it was so much fun.

So much fun, in fact, that late spring/early summer 2020, a member of my writing group gave me this prompt:

  • Object: A pen that’s almost out of ink
  • Dialogue: “This is your captain speaking.”
  • Genre: Chick lit

Within hours of receiving this prompt, I had my two main characters, Isobel and Dean, mapped out, and I had both my 2-sentence summary and story overview written. From there, the words absolutely flowed out of my pen. In record time—about five months—I had the first draft completed.

2). More Isobel and Dean in the Future?

Sadly, no. I don’t plan to write a sequel to My Funny Valentine. But….that doesn’t mean there isn’t more holiday hijinx coming your way.

As previously mentioned, My Funny Valentine was created after I wrote a draft of another holiday story. So, that means I have another story written and ready for editing. But, that’s not all. At this time, I have three other rom-com stories planned out as part of this standalone, holiday series!

3). My Favorite Quote

In one of my copies, I have seemingly endless pages tagged and/or dog-eared with quotes I plan to share on my Instagram account over the next several…well, forever if I’m being honest. Don’t believe me? Here’s how my first proof copy looks!

While I have several dozen quotes flagged, my absolute favorite is this internal dialogue that follows this question from Iz:

“What’s so different about me then?”

Everything.

The way you talk. The way you act. The way you make me feel. Everything about you is different from everyone I’ve ever met.

4). More My Funny Valentine Content

I have lots of fun content planned leading up to and following the release of My Funny Valentine. These will be posted to my Instagram page. Some things you can look forward to include:

  • World aesthetic
  • More quotes & snippets
  • Writing process
  • AMAs
  • And more

5). When You Can Get My Funny Valentine
